Learning outcomes
Student has knowledge about cross-cultural psychology. He understands the meaning of coss-cultural differences in social environment and provides correct explanations of the phenomena that occur in the inter-cultural contact. Student is aware of the specifics of his own culture, and has knowledge about how to help people from different cultures in Polish context. He also has knowledge about currently used research methods in cross-cultural psychology as: cultural interview and cultural assimilator and knows how to use these methods. Student knows the differences in communication styles between cultures.
Skills:
Student can create tools necessary for evaluating sojourners’ and refugees’ level of acculturation and he/she has the skills to correctly interpret encountered cultural conflicts called critical incidents in a multicultural environment. Student has the skills to conduct in-depth analysis of cultural phenomena. Student knows how to provide multicultural workshops that increase awareness of cultural differences and he/she has the ability to help foreigners in Polish culture context.
Student knows how to use of his knowledge from cross-cultural psychology in running research projects and in education. He also knows how to use different communication styles in intercultural contact. Student can run cultural interview and correctly interpret results of research in cross-cultural psychology.
Assessment criteria
During exercises there is evaluated: activity, scientific poster created on the basis of published research results from cross-cultural psychology and e-learning platform. Student is obligated to be present on exercises and be familiar with the given literature.
