The aim of the course is to learn the basic issues in the field of forensic and penitentiary psychology, i.e. issues related to crime.

3. Social maladjustment - causes, types, manifestations.
4. Theories of crime.
5. An expert psychologist in court proceedings.
6. Areas of functioning of forensic psychologists
7. Psychological opinions as evidence in various categories of cases
8. The problem of lying.
9. Printing tests.
10. Criminal punishment.
11. Development of the prison institution.
12. The penitentiary system in Poland.
13. Prisonization.
14. Processes taking place in prison isolation.

Knowledge - the student knows how to interpret basic content in the field of judicial and penitentiary psychology; - knows the methods of psychological tests used by a forensic psychologist; - knows the ways of psychological intervention in the environment of prisoners.
Skills - the student is able to choose the appropriate methods for investigating the perpetrators of crimes.,
Competences - the student has basic competences in the scope of performing the function of a court expert and the function of a penitentiary psychologist.
Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment (presence and activity in class, 4 hours of absence are allowed). Completion of the course takes the form of - preparation of a written work on a given topic. For a very good grade, the student in the written work presents an in-depth analysis of the topic, is able to draw conclusions for the judicial, penitentiary and social rehabilitation practice. For a good grade, the student correctly analyzes the topic. For a satisfactory grade, the student is familiar with the subject, but is unable to combine the issues with each other and with practice. In the case of an unsatisfactory grade, the student presents an analysis that does not fully relate to the given topic and does not meet the formal assumptions given in class.
