Algebra III is an advanced mathematics subject that prepares students for further studies in mathematics. This subject gives solid background in key areas of modern mathematics, Algebra in particular. It builds on already acquired knowledge of algebraic concepts of groups and fields.
Topics include groups, rings, fields, polynomials in one variable, vector spaces, categories and functors, and Galois theory.

Learning outcomes
Students completing this subject should:
- understand groups, rings and ideals;
- develop deep understanding of homomorphisms;
- develop deeper knowledge of normal subgroups, dual groups and operations of groups on sets;
- become familiar with categories and functors;
- understand modules and vector spaces;
- understand theory of polynomials, irreducibility and power series;
- develop understanding of algebraic extensions and Galois theory.
Assessment criteria
Final exam.
