Architecture of Computer Systems WM-I-Z-ASK
Architecture of computer systems is the ability to select and connect available functional elements, processors, memories and other devices to create a computer that meets the requirements of performance, cost and ergonomics as well as techniques for formal modeling of such systems.
The following issues are discussed: short history of computers, Flynn's taxonomy of computers, elements of computer arithmetic, elements of modern computer system construction, including buses, memories (internal and external), input / output devices. Next, processors, their organization, lists of instructions, selected RISC and CISCs architectures, and super-scalar processors are discussed. The class of single-board microcontrollers is presented on the example of Atmel processors and Arduino architecture. The architecture of the Intel x86 family processors is discussed in detail. The examples of complex and heterogeneous computer systems are also presented.

Assessment criteria
For all learning outcomes, the following assessment criteria are adopted for all forms of verification:
grade 5: fully achieved (no obvious shortcomings),
grade 4.5: achieved almost fully and criteria for awarding a higher grade are not met,
grade 4: largely achieved and the criteria for a higher grade are not met,
grade 3.5: largely achieved - with a clear majority of positives - and the criteria for granting a higher grade are not met,
grade 3: achieved for most of the cases covered by the verification and criteria for a higher grade are not met,
grade 2: not achieved for most of the cases covered by the verification.
