Contemporary cryptographic techniques in security WM-I-S2-E2-WKTZ
Systems and data security are currently the key aspects necessary to guarantee the achievement of the goals set for computer systems and networks. The proposed material is in the field of cybersecurity of data and communication in computer networks and systems. The course aims to familiarize students with modern cryptographic data protection and communication techniques. During the course, stream and block encryption algorithms will be discussed. The lecture will also discuss the mathematical foundations on which the discussed algorithms are based. On this basis, symmetric and asymmetric ciphers will be presented. Subsequently, the methods of electronic signature, hash function, and other applications, including blockchain technology, will be presented. Against this background, the issue of cryptocurrencies, including their security, will be discussed.

Assessment criteria
For all learning outcomes, the following assessment criteria are adopted for all forms of verification:
grade 5: fully achieved (no obvious shortcomings),
grade 4.5: achieved almost fully and criteria for awarding a higher grade are not met,
grade 4: largely achieved and the criteria for a higher grade are not met,
grade 3.5: largely achieved - with a clear majority of positives - and the criteria for granting a higher grade are not met,
grade 3: achieved for most of the cases covered by the verification and criteria for a higher grade are not met,
grade 2: not achieved for most of the cases covered by the verification.
