Purpose of the course: Objective of the subject
Man as a social being communicates with other people through language - speech. Through speech it expresses its thoughts, feelings and needs. When this communication process is disrupted, the child cannot communicate even with the immediate environment. Such a state influences its development and personality. The aim of the lectures is to show and raise awareness of various speech disorders, their causes, consequences and personal and school implications - learning outcomes. The lectures will allow students to get acquainted with the methods of treatment of these disorders and with prophylaxis in the range of the issues addressed.

To acquire the ability to differentiate and name different types of speech disorders and to provide first aid to children and their parents.

He has knowledge of what psychology is dealing with, how it differs from other sciences, what are its disciplines, what it deals with in detail. He or she has knowledge about the meaning of processes and mechanisms of learning and upbringing. He knows what the psychologist's responsibility is about and knows the rules of ethics. He understands the importance of stress, crises, conflicts in human life and has knowledge of how to prevent and counteract these phenomena. It is able to analyse and interpret the role of factors conducive to health behaviours, addictions, preventing potential developmental disorders and pathologies in mental processes. He understands the conditions of mental development in people with disabilities and various mental dysfunctions.

Be able to select techniques and methods of psychological help appropriate to given dysfunctional forms. Can identify problems specific to different types of disability and provide appropriate psychological support. Can plan and carry out psychoprophylactic and psycho-educational interactions.

He or she has the competence to be open and ready to deal with other people. He or she can independently supplement knowledge and skills depending on the emerging needs of changes. He has competence in psychological assistance and crisis intervention.

Assessment criteria
Knowledge
After listening to the lectures, the student should be able to define, explain, distinguish, present and formulate problems related to the education of a disabled child in a clear and transparent manner.
Skills
Students attending lectures should acquire skills in the analysis of problems related to the education of a disabled child. He or she should acquire the ability to develop, organise, classify and compare. It should also acquire the ability to draw conclusions on the basis of theorems, verify and predictability and establish criteria for the recognition of motives and causes. It should also acquire the skills to lead and implement new projects.
Competences
After listening to the lectures, the student should acquire the following competences: caution and criticism in expressing opinions, acquiring the ability to work in a team and manage it, being open to new problems, and showing responsibility for the decisions made. He or she should be open and creative, sensitive to the problems of another person and capable of discussion and compromise.
