ML: In the hungry brain trap - therapeutic challenges WF-PS-NWT
In first part of the lecture, the updated literature review will be presented on structural - and functional alterations in `hungry` brain and its consequence in the form of thought traps, cognitive traps, and traps of disordered perception of body image. Furthermore, emotional life of 'hungry' brain will be discussed or brain with neurodevelopmental deficits?
The second part of the lecture will be focused on therapeutic intervention in malnourished brain, helpful in reducing symptoms of eating disorders and improvement of both emotional and cognitive functioning (for instance dietetic input, psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, social cognitive and neurocognitive training and body image programme).

1. Students will acquire updated knowledge enabling to improve their comprehension about neural correlates of malnutrition and its severe clinical consequences with particular emphasis on eating disorders
2. Students will learn how to treat ‘traps’/ clinical symptoms of eating disorders in complex, specialised manner.
• The ability to think critically and creatively about theoretical, empirical and applied issues and their inter-relationships.
