Advanced methods of data analysis WF-PS-N-ZMA
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with selected advanced methods of data analysis currently used in psychological research.
The aim of the lectures is to familiarize students with the general idea of selected advanced methods of data analysis that are used in psychological research. The classes are intended to prepare students to better understand scientific publications in the field of psychology, thanks to the ability of interpretation of the results of advanced statistical analyses presented in them. During the lectures, the analyses will be presented in an accessible way, without the mathematical details. Students will get acquainted with exemplary descriptions of the results of analyzes in scientific publications. The scope of topics corresponds to the current analytical trends in psychological scientific publications.
The aim of the practical classes is to acquire the ability to conduct mediation and moderation analyses using the PROCESS macro for SPSS and to conduct selected statistical analyses using the RStudio software, based on the R language. Mediation and moderation analyses are often used in psychological research, while the R language is increasingly used by researchers instead of the popular SPSS.

- student is able to interpret the results of statistical analyses presented in a scientific publication
- student is able to critically evaluate the selection of analyses and the interpretation of their results presented in a scientific publication
- student is aware of the possibilities and limitations of selected advanced statistical analyses used in psychological research
- student is able to conduct mediation and moderation analyses in the macro PROCESS for SPSS
- student understands the specifics of the RStudio program and the rules of the R programming language syntax
- the student is able to carry out simple statistical analyses in RStudio with the use of commands in the R language
