ML: Cross-cultural psychology WF-PS-N-PMK
The course introduces the issues of culture as a fundamental variable in the understanding of human mental processes. The aim of the course is to show the role of universalism versus the locality of specific psychological phenomena, including such phenomena as well-being, personality, religion or sexual selection.
Content discussed during classes enable a better understanding of culture and its impact on human behavior. The lecture supports the development of critical thinking skills, emphasizes the value of respecting cultural diversity as well as seeking intercultural similarities. As a result of the implementation of the above issues, the student acquires cultural sensitivity, develops the attitude of tolerance towards cultural diversity and understands the cultural limitations of psychological phenomena (especially the social functioning of the individual).
