Poetics WH-FP-C-P1
Course contents:
Stylistics and its subject; The issue of poetic language; Phonetic style measures; inflectional, syntactic and formative measures of style; Lexis as a sphere of stylistic choices; Lexis and semantics; Metaphor; Allegory, myth and symbol; Styling and its types; Summary: the general theory of the elements of style.
Assessment methods:
The basis of the study is the reading of poetry and theoretical studies, and analytical and interpretative work on selected literary texts taken from the perspective of theoretical issues. The student is required to have solid knowledge of theoretical and literary readings certified through active participation in classes and positive results of tests to receive the credit. The credit also depends on attendance of the classes (excused absence is obtained on the basis of their medical certificate or other document). During the semester at least one announced written test is scheduled which is based on the issues of classes; a form of checking and dates - to be agreed with the students during the course of the subject.
