Course content:
1. Romantic breakthrough.Introduction into the issue of Polish Romanticism.
2. Exploring creativity of Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Słowacki, Zygmunt Krasinski, Cyprian Norwid, Antoni Malczewski, Aleksander Fredro.
3. Detailed analysis of the works of authors mentioned above.
4. Overview:
- the most important literary studies works of the literature of the first half of the nineteenth century
- Polish Romantic literary genres (ballad, romantic drama, novel, lyrical novel, digressive poem, tale, romance epistolography)
- ways of understanding the poetic world
- characteristics of style and poetic language of the nineteenth century's writers
Assessment methods:
The student's evaluation is based on:
- the attendance and active participation in the classes
- knowledge of the source texts and ancillaries
- positive results of tests and annual work
