Learning outcomes
Knowledge: student identifies philosophy as a field of knowledge, how has philosophical thinking evolved over time, knows the main philosophical currents and understands the underlying ideas within the paradigm real-ideal. Student knows and can name the major thinkers and philosophers from antiquity to modern times, can read, understand and discuss the philosophical texts fundamental to humanistic culture.
Skills: student can understand and explain the basic definitions of philosophy, metaphysics and ontology, can discuss the key philosophical issues (truth, cognition, ethics, God, freedom) in historical and philosophical perspectives. Student listen and understands oral presentations of lecture topics, ideas and arguments related to philosophy as a scientific discipline and its main issues. Student can found and substantiate the arguments for practicing philosophy as a science as well as existential reflection on the world.
Competences: student has a basic knowledge about philosophy as a scientific discipline and the issues it deals with. Student demonstrates the ability of rational argumentation for practicing philosophy and its practical applications in existential situations as well as in searching for solutions to social problems.
