Topics covered:
Mystery of unity in the Bible: Unity of the People of God in the Old Testament. Church as pictured in the New Testament - diversity within unity.
Notion of ecumenism. Ruls and forms of the ecumenical commitment of Churches at present time.
Different models of unity.
Historical evolution of the ecumenical movement.
Engagement of the Catholic Church in the ecumenical movement before, during and after the Second Vatican Council. The most important Catholic documents on ecumenism (Unitatis Redintegratio, Ut Unum Sint, Directory for the application of principles and norms on ecumenism).
Ecumenical organizations and institutions on the universal and local levels (World Council of Churches, Polish Ecumenical Council, Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity).
General presentation of the non Catholic Christian Churches and Traditions (Ancient Eastern Churches, Orthodoxy, Lutheran and Reformed Traditions, Anglicanism).
Ecumenical dialogue - main accomplishments, issues that still divide Churches, perspectives for the future.
Teaching methods: Lecture and discussion.
Language of instruction : Polish.
Evaluation methods: Oral final examination during summer examination period. Before the start of the examination period the students receive questions to guide their preparation. During the exam the student receives one question chosen among them. Exam duration: about 15min.
