Biblical Hebrew WT-DTKB-JB
During the regular course, the student has the opportunity to learn the basics of grammar of biblical Hebrew. Know the basic vocabulary and syntactic phenomena, gradually acquire proficiency in the use transliteration, learn loud and correct reading of biblical texts and the ability to independently perform simple grammar exercises.
Issues raised in the first semester:
Morphology of Biblical Hebrew
1. The definite article.
2. The noun (gender and number, status absolutus, status constructus, forms with the suffixes).
3. The adjective (gender and number; predicative and attributive adjectives).
4.The pronoun (personal, pointing, possessive, interrogative).
5. The prepositions.
6. The simple nominal clauses.
The verb and its functions. The students will get to know and assimilate themself:
- the conjugative system of the biblical Hebrew
- the basic categories of verb: perfectum, imperfectum, participium, imperativus, and their morphological structure;
- the verbs with the suffixes.

1. KNOWLEDGE
- knows by heart one (of two proposed) text in biblical Hebrew
- knows the basics morphology (functions of the determines particle, the noun, the adjective, the preposition, the adverb)
- knows the number of basic terms and phrases Hebrew words (taken from the Bible)
- has a wide vocabulary and phrases of the biblical Hebrew
2. SKILLS
- can read the biblical text fluently
- can make transcription
- can translate simple nominal sentences
- can translate the easier biblical texts (using a dictionary)
- recognizes the beauty and possibilities of interpretation of the biblical text
Assessment criteria
The conditions that must be realized to pass successfully are:
- regular attendance and participation in lectures
- positive assessment of all (weekly) regular tests
- knowledge of the heart one of two short text in Hebrew ("Shema" or "Avinu")
FINAL EVALUATION CRITERIA
The conditions of access to the final exam are:
- regular attendance and participation in lectures in the second semester
- positive assessment of the regular all (weekly) tests
The final grade will be determined on the basis of a written determination to check the ability of grammatical forms and translate the biblical text (chosen by the teacher in proportion to the knowledge gained by the students).
