The merits:
During the first semester we will discuss the following topics:
Introductory themes:
1. The prophetic literature in Hebrew and Greek canon of the OT.
2. The prophets of the ancient Israel and the prophetism in biblical (= Near-eastern) world.
3. Notion, development and chronology of biblical prophetism.
4. The historical context of the Assyrian period.
The prophets of the Assyrian period:
5. The Book of Amos.
6. The Book of Hosea.
7. The Book of Isaiah: Proto-Isaiah (Is 1-39) - part I.
8. The Book of Isaiah: Proto-Isaiah (Is 1-39) - part II.
9. The Book of Micah.
10. The Book of Zephaniah.
11. The Book of Jonah.
12. The Book of Nahum
13. The Book of Habakkuk.
14. The Book of Jeremiah - the prophet of the transitional period (brief introduction)
15. The forming and development of the prophetic literature in the Bible.
The lectures will continue in the second semester; it will discuss the following topics:
The prophets of the Babylonian period:
1. The Book of Jeremiah. Lamentations.
2. The Book of Ezekiel.
3. The Book of Obadiah.
4. The Book of Isaiah: Deutero-Isaiah (Is 40-55). The Servant Songs.
5. The Book of Isaiah: Trito-Isaiah (Is 56-66).
The prophets of the Persian period:
5. The Book of Haggai.
6. The Book of Zechariah: Proto-Zechariah (Za 1-8) and Deutero-Zechariah (Za 9-14).
7. The Book of Joel.
8. The Book of Malachi.
The prophets of the Hellenistic period:
10. The Book of Daniel - part I. Introduction to the Apocalyptic literature.
11. The Book of Daniel - part II
12. The forming and development of the prophetic literature in the Bible.
