Cyberspace - opportunities and threats WT-DKS-DMCS
Lectures on the Web and various phenomena occurring in it, considered from the communicative, cultural and ethical perspective. The digital world constantly carries new challenges and threats. The Internet has changed our lifestyle on all its levels. Apart from the fact that it facilitates communication at all its levels and mediates various spheres of life, it also carries certain specific threats. We are often unaware of these dangers or simply underestimated, and their effects are sometimes tragic - from addiction to self-destruction.
The aim of the course is to present and analyze the phenomena that already exist on the Web, but also the risks and addictions.
Main issues:
1. Introduction - a short history of the Web
2. Internet and lifestyle
3. Communities: communities on the web, social media, digital natives and digital migrants.
4. Online identity
5. Web as a place of emotions (mourning, anger, loneliness and love on the Internet), self-expression, communication and entertainment platform.
6. Self-creation in the Web (hyper-presence)
7. Network religion and religion on the internet
8. Network games
9. Internet sects
10. Digital children - the phenomenon, conditions, key problems
11. Suicide on the Web
12. Internet threats and addictions (fake news, deep fake, addiction and dependence, chat, pornography, voyeurism, dissociative trans in front of the monitor, emotional addictions and others)
13. Diagnostic tools and criteria for new addictions and methods of their treatment.
14. Presentation of selected research on the Web and its threats
15. Netiquette

Assessment criteria
Lectures are obligatory and require not only passive participation in them, but also the student's involvement in exercises and team work, which are planned in the exercise cycle.
Knowledge of the issues raised during the classes, creativity during exercises and the ability to discuss will be assessed.
Classes concluded with an oral exam in a stationary or online form.
