Introduction to Polish Constitutional Law WP-PR-MON-IPCL
The course is divided into 4 parts. The first one (2 hours) encompasses a history of the Polish constitutionalism from the 3rd May Constitution of 1791 till the democratic breakthrough of 1989. The second one (6 hours) is dedicated to a general overview of the Constitution of 1997 (including its drafting process) and basic constitutional matters (fundamental principles, sources of law). The third part (5 hours) relates to constitutional freedoms and rights, as well as to measures for their protection. The fourth part (14 hours) is dedicated to discussing powers of constitutional authorities functioning within the principle of tripartite separation of powers, including electoral system to the Sejm and the Senate.
