International Law and Humanitarian Aid WP-PR-MON-ILaHA
The seminar covers selected issues related to international law applicable in the field of humanitarian aid. During the seminar, the basic international legal standards applicable to humanitarian aid are presented and analyzed. Its purpose is also reflection and discussion on the challenges related to humanitarian crises and humanitarian aid from the perspective of international law. The seminar aims at providing "food for thoughts" in this regard.
The seminar is in English.

LO1: The student knows the basic concepts related to humanitarian aid, its assumptions and presents knowledge in this field in writing and orally in English, including the use of appropriate English terminology
LO 2: The student presents in writing and orally in English the international legal standards applicable in the area of humanitarian aid, taking into account their specificity and content
LO 3: The student analyzes the sources of international law applicable in the area of humanitarian aid available in English, draws conclusions based on the analysis and makes a correct summary of these sources in English
LO 4: The student analyzes the current challenges regarding humanitarian crises and humanitarian aid from the perspective of international law and presents conclusions in writing and orally in English based on such analysis
Participation in the seminar: 15 h
Getting acquainted and analyzing the recommended sources: 40 h
Preparation of a paper: 30 h
Preparation for the test: 15 h

Assessment criteria
To complete the seminar and obtain the final positive grade students need to:
- prepare and present a short presentation (mandatory)
- pass the test (10 closed and open questions, mandatory), (during our last seminar).
In addition: attendance is mandatory (but 2 absences are allowed)
Final grade is the average of two grades (from the test and presentation).
The topics of the presentation are chosen by students in agreement with the lecturer.
