This seminar examines some of the relationships between law and development. After examining the notion of development and the right to development as a human right, and institutional aspects of international development cooperation, including UN, WB, OECD, and EU’s law and practice, the module moves on to a number of individual issues where the relationship between law and development can be explored.

• Acquires knowledge of basic concepts and fundamental development law and theories
• Acquires knowledge of sources of law in global development and functioning of main global organizations within the field of development
• Demonstrate a critical understanding of the historical and contemporary development aid theory and practice
• Recognizing problematic points, ability to present and justify position and identifying possible solutions within the theory and practice of development aid
• Apply basic development concepts to current international situations
