English-Language Literature WH-FP-II-1-LitPowAng
The objective of lectures devoted to specified literary works is as follows:
- outlining historical background and literary, and ideological context of the literary work in question
- tutoring students so that they capable of self-interpretation
- presenting the significance of reception of the work in question to its popular interpretation
- presenting how a literary work is inscribed in a cultural paradigm
- presenting local and national color of a literary work, specific to the literary work, and locating it in national literature canon
- analysis of poetics and ways of illustration, as well as esthetic transformations throughout literary ages.
What is equally important is a question of mutual influence and inspiration, motifs, images, keywords, debates and discussions conducted beyond temporary and spatial boundaries.
Reception of a literary work is dependent to a large extent on its translation, and therefore 'canonic' translations of masterpieces will also be presented.
