The subject of the course is to prepare for the presentation of the problem/issue in the public forum, discussion. The subject helps to prepare a bachelor's degree paper in biogeography (e.g., the causes of contemporary distribution of species, their present status, threats or means of protection and/or increase in abundance, the impact of invasions on biodiversity, etc.). Topics such as species range, dispersion, migration, species extinction, human influence on fauna and flora development are raised.
Winter:

3. Searching and collecting literature for thesis
4. How to prepare a diploma thesis
5-15. Presentation of the thesis outline and detailed consultations on the work

3-4. Dispersal and a role of barriers in reducing dispersal (examples)

1. Knowledge.
EK1 - student understands and explains the importance of the factors responsible for the contemporary distribution and diversity of fauna and flora, both historical and contemporary; interprets the importance of different factors altering ranges of species;
EK2 – student characterizes organization of life and biological biodiversity in different regions of the world
EK3 - student identifies, classifies and analyzes the disturbance caused by human that affect the distribution of flora and fauna and its diversity.
2. Skills:
EK4 - student uses a computer to search for information, communication, and presentation
EK5 – student uses different source of information in Polish and English (for example, maps, photographs, interview, Internet, professional journals) makes the analysis, synthesis, summary, critical evaluation and correct conclusions
EK6 - Student puts hypotheses regarding the causes of the treats
EK7 – Student is able to prepare an oral presentation of detailed issues of biogeography and participate in focused discussion, using scientific language, is able to prepare a thesis
3. Competence:
EK8 - student knows the scope of his/her interdisciplinary knowledge and abilities, understands the need for continuous training
EK9 - student retains the criticism and caution in acceptance of information from the scientific literature, the Internet, and especially available in the mass media, with reference to the biogeography

Knowledge (EK 1-3)
score 2 (unsatisfactory). The student cannot explain the importance of the factors responsible for the contemporary distribution and diversity of fauna and flora; the student is not able to interpret the significance of different factors varying ranges of species; has a problem in characterizing the levels of life organization and biodiversity in different parts of the world; cannot identify, classify and analyze human-induced disturbances affecting the distribution of fauna and flora and its diversity.
score 3 (satisfactory) The student can explain the meaning of some of the factors responsible for the contemporary distribution and diversity of fauna and flora; the student is able to interpret the meaning of some of the factors changing species ranges; tries to characterizes the levels of life organization and biodiversity in different parts of the world not always correctly; is able to identify, classify and analyze some of the distortion caused by human influence on the distribution of flora and fauna and its diversity.
score 4 (good) The student can explain the most important factors responsible for the contemporary distribution and diversity of fauna and flora, the student is able to interpret the importance of factors varying ranges of most species; correctly characterizes the levels of life organization and biodiversity in different parts of the world; is able to identify, classify and analyze the majority of human-induced disturbances affecting the distribution of flora and fauna and its diversity, and knows some ways to prevent these threats.

score 3 (satisfactory): The student correctly uses the computer and the relevant software to the extent necessary to find information, communicate, and make presentations; uses source information only in the Polish language (e.g. maps, photographs, interviews, Internet, professional journals) conducts analyzes, summaries, has problems with proper reasoning based on sources; tries to put the correct hypothesis about the cause of the threat, although he does not always succeed; is able to prepare a correct oral presentation on specific biogeography issues, but does not participate in targeted discussions using the scientific language, uses common and imprecise language, is able to prepare thesis, but it is unprofessional, based mainly on internet and poor sources.
score 4 (good): The student efficiently uses the computer and the relevant software to the extent necessary to search for information, communicate, presentations, but does not always properly select the sources; is able to use source information in Polish and basic English (e.g. maps, photographs, interviews, Internet, professional journals), makes analyzes, syntheses, summaries, critical evaluations, and correct conclusions based on sources; The student puts correct hypotheses about the causes of the threats; is able to prepare an oral presentations on specific biogeography topics and participate in targeted discussions; is able to prepare thesis, but it is based rather poor sources and requires a lot of corrections and additions. It is lacking of the proficiency in the use of the scientific language.
score 5 (very good): The student effectively uses the computer and the relevant software to find the right information, communicate, make presentations; student uses source information in Polish and English (e.g. maps, photographs, interviews, the Internet, professional journals), makes analyzes, syntheses, summaries, critical evaluations and correct conclusions based on sources; puts correct hypotheses about the causes of the threats, can find solutions; is able to prepare an oral presentation on specific biogeography topics and participate in targeted discussions using the scientific language; is able to prepare a very good thesis – well prepared, written in scientific language and based on reach sources.

A desire for continuous learning, a deeper interest in the topic, caution and criticism in receiving information from the scientific literature, the Internet, and especially from the mass media is evaluated, as well as extending language skills, and the independence in the search and use of available sources.
Methods of assessment:
The final grade is composed of:
Assessment of the presentation of the article related to the topic Evaluated are: form, content and presentation of multimedia presentation, the ability to find suitable material
Evaluation of preliminary version of the Bachelor’s thesis. A form, content and self-reliance in the search and selection of appropriate literature for the review are evaluated.
Evaluation of the activity in the course (participation in the discussion)
Winter semester score is the result of the final assessment (arithmetic mean) of two factors: the assessment of the presentation of BA thesis outlines, and assessment of preliminary version of thesis.
Bachelor’s thesis must be finished within a period specified by the lecturer, in exceptional cases, at least four weeks before the deadline in the dean's office, the work completed later cannot be assessed in the first term. Within a correction term a paper will be accepted for evaluation no later than half/end of June in accordance to the holiday term of the lecturer. After this deadline, the work will not be assessed, which means no completion of the seminar.
Summer:
