Polish Christian Philosophy in 20th and 21st Century WF-FI-SWIEZYNPoCh-WO
The aim of this course is to present students with main representatives of Polish Christian Philosophy of the 20th and 21th Century and their works.
The students will learn and discuss such philosophers as Mieczysław Gogacz (metaphysics), Kazimierz Kloskowski (philosophy of nature, bioethics), Piotr Lenartowicz (biophilosophy, philosophical anthropology), Tadeusz Ślipko (ethics), Karol Wojtyła (philosophical anthropology), Zofia Zdybicka (philosophy of religion), Kazimierz Kłosak (philosophy of nature), Józef Tishner (philosophy of culture).

FI2_W01: student understands the role of Christian philosophy in Polish culture.
FI2_W02: student knows methodologigal specificity of Christian philosophy (as distinc from other philosophical propositions).
FI2_W06: students knows philosophical terminology in English.
FI2_W05: student knows and understands Christian ethical norms and their impact on society in Poland.
FI2_W16: student knows and understands the role of Christian philosophy in shaping Polish culture.
FI2_U05: student analyzes complex philosophical arguments, specific for Polish Christian philosophy.
FI2_U07: student can identify relations between Christian philosophical ideas and their impact on social life in Poland.
FI2_U08: student can identify typical argumentative strategies in Polish Christian philosophy.
FI2_U09: student can identify logical errors in some forms of philosophical argumentation in Polish Christian philosophy.
FI2_U16: student can reconstruct types of argumentation in Polish Christian philosophy and identify similarities and differences between them.
FI2_K03: student is ready to identify ethical problems as raised in Polish Christian philosophy.
FI2_K04: student is interested in new philosophical concepts and ready to engage in solving social problems with the use of these concepts.
FI2_K06: student is ready to engage humanist reflection, as presented in Polish Christian philosophy, to form social bindings.
FI2_K08: student is ready to enhance his/her language skills and to use appropriate sources, as found in Polish Christian philosophy, to facilitate this need.
Assessment criteria
Two factors are decissive on the final note:
- an essay which each student will write on a chosen subject, dealing with one of the representatives of Polish Christian philosophy and his/her views;
- engagement in discussions in class.
