(in Polish) SP: Filozofia a kultura popularna: Wybrane zagadnienia WF-FI-212-SPPLO23
The topics of the lecture concern selected philosophical concepts that can be read in broadly understood works of popular culture, primarily in films and TV series. The lecture adopts the hermeneutic method, which serves to read the meaning inherent in a cultural work as constituted by a certain meaning-creating practice. This method adopts the principle of the autonomy of a work of art, i.e. the aim of the analysis is not the meanings present in the work that the author wanted to include in it, but the meaning that is presented in the interpretation. Thus, following Gadamer, it is assumed that a work of art means everything it can mean. A similar methodological approach makes it possible to isolate the meanings inherent in a work of art, regardless of its artistic value. During the classes, the subject of discussion will be works of film art, e.g. "Pulp Fiction" by Tarantino and selected series, e.g. "The Last of Us". The analysis of these artifacts is intended to be a starting point for the presentation of the main concepts and problems and proposals for their solutions in philosophy.
