ML: Philosophy on pleasure WF-FI-123-WMAN-PT22
The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the philosophical issue of pleasure both in the historical and systematic course. The lecture will include an overview of historical positions on the nature of pleasure, its functions in the psychological and moral life of a human being. The histotic part of the lecture will concern, first of all, the ancient period, Plato in particular, as well as Aristotle and Epicurus. Additionally, the lecture will present an overview of the positions discussed today, especially within Anglo-Saxon analytical philosophy and cognitive science. Among the systematic issues, the following problems will be discussed: intentionality, motivation, pleasure as emotions, pleasure as beliefs and others. In addition, the lecture will also present the issue of pleasure in the social and cultural context.

Learning outcomes
The student knows and understands the relationship between philosophy and sciences at a level that allows interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary work with specialists from other fields of science. The student knows and understands at an extended level the main directions of the basic philosophical sub-disciplines and the relationships between these directions. He can detect complex dependencies between the formation of philosophical ideas and social and cultural processes and define the relations between these dependencies. He can precisely formulate, in speech and in writing, complex philosophical problems, formulate theses and critically comment on them. The student is able to prepare monographic studies on the basis of independently selected literature, using original approaches and taking into account new achievements in the field of philosophy. The student is ready to take into account the importance of humanistic reflection for the formation of social bonds.
