Biotechnological methods of metal removal from waste WB-IS-II-21-09
As part of the course, students will be introduced to research areas related to Environmental Biotechnology. Issues related to heavy metal pollution and its toxicity will be presented. Students will learn technologies for the elimination of heavy metals from wastewater and waste using microorganisms related to biohydrometallurgy, bioaccumulation, bioextraction using activated sludge and immobilized biomass.

Effect 1 - graduate knows and understands to an in-depth degree - selected facts, objects and phenomena as well as methods and theories pertaining to them explaining the complex interrelationships between them, constituting advanced general knowledge in the field of biotechnological methods of metal removal from waste forming theoretical foundations, ordered and theoretically supported knowledge covering key issues and selected issues in the field of advanced specific knowledge - relevant to the study programme, as well as practical applications of this knowledge in professional activities related to their field of study.
Learning outcomes in terms of skills:
Effect 2 - the student is able to select sources and information from them in the field of biotechnological methods of metal removal from waste.
Result 3 - the student is able to plan and carry out his own lifelong learning and guide others in the field of biotechnological methods of metals removal from waste.

Assessment criteria
Passing the written test exam (obtaining a min 51% score).
Assessment 2 (fail) The graduate does not know and does not understand selected facts, objects and phenomena as well as methods and theories related to them, explaining the complex interrelationships between them, constituting advanced general knowledge in the field of biotechnological methods of metal removal from waste forming theoretical foundations, ordered and theoretically supported knowledge covering key issues and selected issues of advanced specific knowledge; he/she is unable to select sources and information from them in the field of biotechnological methods of metal removal from waste; he/she is unable to plan and carry out his/her own lifelong learning and to guide others in the field of biotechnological methods of metal removal from waste; he/she is not competent to critically appraise his/her knowledge and perceived content in the field of biotechnological methods of metal removal from waste.
