1. Learning of laboratory equipment, glass, the rules of using them. Exercises in manual techniques being used in analysis
2. Water samples collection. Measureements of physico-chemical properties of waters right after sampling
3. Measurement of water alkalinity
4. Measurement of cloride in water
5. Indicatory analysis - measurement of sulphates, nitrates and phosphates by colorimetric method
6. Measurement of water hardness and calcium content7. 7. Measurements of iron in waters
Evaluation method:
- reports related to the exercises including teoretical description, obtained data and calculated results (in relation to the criteria, if proper)
- final test

Knowledge:
IS1_W01 - has knowledge useful in water quality assessment – knows assessment methods and criteria,
IS1_W04 - identifies sources of water contamination,
IS1_W06 - knows, understands and follows safety rules at the laboratory.
Skills:
IS1U01 - searches bibliography in order to draw conclusions from the of own measurement results,
IS1_U02 - prepares well documented assessment regarding problems of laboratory analyses, with special respect to water quality,
IS1_U04 - broadens knowlegdge based on self education;
IS1_U07 - conducts laboratory experiments based on required methods, holds manual skills that are necessary at the laboratory work, categorizes water quality based on the obtained measurement results and legal criteria, analyzes research results, draw conclusions and formulate directions,
IS1_U12 - is able to use simple analytical methods for environmental samples.
IS1_U14 - is able to communicate at work in the laboratory of environmental engineering
IS1_U15 - is able to use analytical methods for the determination of the individual components in the analysis of water samples
IS1_U16 - can use the knowledge from different fields of environmental engineering to analyze the results of water samples
