Animal psychology WB-BI-MGR-10ćw
During the exercises, visual materials will be presented, showing the natural behavior of animals of various species. Students will have to interpret the emotional states that motivate animals (fear, anxiety, hunger, aggression, empathy, learned reactions, sexual behavior) and the differences in the manifestation of such behavior in different species. They will also be asked to interpret the unusual behavior of selected animal species.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge: Student understands complex interactions and biological processes underlying and motivating behavior of animals belonging to various evolutionary lineages; student understands the meaning of basic terms and definitions concerning animal behavior and neurophysiology; student has a broader knowledge of various aspects of the animal biology, in particular feeding, courtship and breeding and strategies of avoiding predators. Student has knowledge concerning various problems of contemporary ethology.
Skills: student knows how to search for literature, critically read the texts and selects information. Student understands the difference between the unreviewed claims of various authors, especially publishing on internet pages without proper documentation and review, and scientific papers. Student is able to interpret facts presented by various authors and evaluate theories concerning animal behavior.
Competence: student will expand his knowledge and understanding of the complexity of animal behavior and their abilities. She/he will be aware of the limitations of behavioral repertoir and cognition of various species and in the same time of the behavioral plasticity and learning abilities of all animal species. He/she will improve its comperences as the Biology Teacher.
