Basics of biotechnology WB-BI-36-19lab
The Basic in Biotechnology is conducted as a lecture (15 hours) and laboratory class (30 hours).
Laboratory include training in the basic methodology of plant biotechnologist work: establishing and running various types of in vitro cultures, working in sterile conditions; preparation of plant growth media; use of growth regulators; types of in vitro culture of cells and tissues; Students learn to work with plants in sterile conditions and learn to use examples of tissue or cell culture.
Students will also learn the basic recombination techniques and subcloning of DNA, transformation and evaluation of genetically modified plants.

EP3: has knowledge of basic concepts and biotechnological terminology and has knowledge on development and research methods used in biotech.
EP4: has knowledge of the basic techniques and research tools used in biotechnology
EP5: understands the relationship between the achievements of biotechnology and the possibilities of their use in socio-economic context, taking into account the sustainable use of biological diversity.
Effects in terms of skills:
EP6: understands biotechnology literature in Polish and reads simple texts in English with understanding
EP7 student is able to use available sources of information about biotechnology, including electronic sources
EP8: the student uses scientific language in discussions on biotechnological topics
EP9: correctly performs oral presentations on specific issues in the field of biotechnology
EP10 student learns issues related to biotechnology independently in a targeted manner.
