Translatory of theological texts WT-SSTA-TOT
The God of Christian revelation “translated” himself from the “language” of the divine into human language by becoming human. Jesus Christ became the first “translation” of God's truth for humans. “Translation” is one of the principles of Christian faith development.
In this class we are guided by the intuition presented in the apostolic exhortation “Evangelii Nuntiandi” of Pope Paul VI (Nos. 63 and 65) on the translatability of the content of the Christian faith, and the principles set forth in the encyclical “Redemptoris Missio” of Pope John Paul II (Nos. 52-53) in the section on inculturation. We will analyze various texts, dealing not so much with their literary meaning, but primarily with their theological meaning.
