The issue of collective responsibility in the Bible and he teaching of the Catholic Church WT-SSTA-TIO
From the first book to the last, many Old Testament texts seem to indicate the universality of collective responsibility. It is indeed a basic norm and the main criterion of justice that runs through the Old Testament. Based on these texts, one may get the impression that the God of the Old Testament tolerates and even approves the application of collective responsibility. The aim of the lectures is to present the above problem in the light of the biblical moral teaching of the Old Testament and to compare the views of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church on the problem of collective retribution. The lecture seeks answers to the questions: How should the issue of responsibility be understood from a moral perspective? What are the socio-cultural conditions of both collective and individual responsibility? What is the assessment of the above responsibilities in the teaching of the Catholic Church?
