Objectives of the subject:
The lecture is divided into two main parts. In the first, the historical and literary issues of the Synoptic Gospels are discussed: the stages of the formation of the Gospels, the time of their composition, authorship and addressees, hypotheses attempting to resolve the interrelationships of the Gospels, etc. The second part is strictly theological and covers the main theological themes of the individual Synoptic Gospels, e.g. Jesus as Messiah, Jesus as Son of God, Matthew's ecclesiology, the theology of salvation history in Luke's Gospel, Jesus as Savior, etc.
