Catholic Social Teaching WT-SOP-KN1
The aim of the lecture is to present a personalistic understanding of Catholic social thought. The lecture covers the basic issues related to the Catholic view of the human person, shaping individual and collective identity, the relationship between an individual and a community and the dynamisms that shape social life. We put the human person at the center of the lecture, pointing out that it is not only the "way of the Church", but also the center of social life. In this way, personal connections (relationships) in society become the reference point for the presented Catholic social teaching.
The lecture in the first part covers the ontology of social life. It shows relationships as the basis of the social world, presents a realistic vision of a person open to transcendence and a personal relationship with God. In the second part, we will explore the theological (including biblical) foundations of the personalistic approach to social life. In the third part, we follow the development of personalism in Catholic social thought.
