Protestantism WT-RE-PRO
Topics are divided into four main fields:
I. History of Protestantism: Pre-Reformation. M.Luther and beginnings of the Reformation. Confessio Augustana and Peace in Augsburg. U.Zwingli and Reformation in Switzerland. J.Calvin and formation of the Reformed tradition. Reformation in England. Missionary activities and spread of Protestantism through the world. Further divisions within Protestantism.
II. General characteristic (doctrines, order, cult, ethics) of the main Protestant traditions: Lutherans, Reformed, Anglican Communion, Baptists, Methodism, Adventists, Independent Churches.
III. Protestant Churches in Poland: Lutherans, Reformed, Methodists, Baptists.
IV. Protestant Churches in Ecumenical movement: First ecumenical initiatives, World Council of Churches, Polish Ecumenical Council.
Assessment: Written test at the end of the term. Actual and active presence during the classes will be taken in consideration for evaluation.
