Liturgical Year in the Catechesis WT-FW-RL

Essential content:
The lectures present truths contained in Church’s documents, which depict inseparable union of religious education with liturgy and sacraments. Since in sacraments, and particularly in the Eucharist, Christ acts fully in order to transform a man. This is why the religious education should lead to an active, conscious and complete participation in liturgical celebrations.

The syllabus of lectures covers the following issues:
-Liturgy as a source and an aim of religious education. Sacramental religious education;
-Liturgical year in documents of the Second Vatican Council;
-Liturgy as a way of Christian education (liturgy as a school of faith, prayer, morality, spiritual life and aesthetics);
-Sunday, the oldest and the first holiday – its history, meaning and names;
-Dialogue between God and a man in the liturgy of Advent and Christmas;
-God summoning people and the community which responds to His call, seen from the perspective of the liturgy of Lent, the Easter Triduum and the Easter Season;
-Theology of the liturgy of Ordinary Time;
-Worship of Blessed Virgin Mary and of the saints as a way of love for the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as well as a way of an accomplishment of Church’s life;
-Liturgical year in a parish;
-Place of the Paschal Mystery in the liturgical year.

Assessment Methods:
Knowledge of students will be assessed by a test concerning lectures content and based on prepared thesis.
