Missiology WT-DMI-SMI1
The seminar is dedicated to the methodology and reflection on missiological problems, especially addressed to graduate students
1. General methodology of academic work:
- Formulating the research problem and/or thesis topic
- Writing footnotes and making a bibliography (one style)
- Comparing bibliographic styles from Polish and English magazines (Chicago Style)
- Working with library databases and searching for texts available on-line
- Text editing (online aids and text editors)
- Basics of working with Word and/or other word processors
- Working with texts in other languages (automatic translations, back and forth translations)
- Analysis of the topics of previous diploma theses
2. The specificity of missiological research
- what are the "missions"?
- Polish and foreign (especially English) missiological studies
- major contemporary missiological centers and associations and their publications
3. Examples of missiological research based on selected sources.
- Biblical basis of missions
- studies from the history of the mission
- studies on the theology of missions
- studies on the anthropology of missions and other specific issues
4. Analysis of selected source texts (depending on the issues selected by the students, e.g. concerning the theology of missions, missions in Asia or Oceania)
5. Detailed practical issues related to the preparation of master's and/or doctoral theses
6. Analysis of texts prepared by the participants of the seminar
