Political communication and media WT-DKS-DMSKP
The research area of the seminar focuses on the following issues: mediatization of political communication, issues of press image, election advertising, press content analysis, political communication of the Catholic Church and other religious associations, middle range theories of mass communication. The subject matter of the seminar refers mainly to the discipline of media studies, but also to political science. The processes of mediatization of political communication reflect new relations of dependence between the world of politics and the world of media. Their proper interpretation requires knowledge of media logic and political logic.
The most important middle range theories, referring to the multi-threaded attempt to capture the process of mediatized communication, are: gatekeeping, information value theory, framing, agenda-setting, Elaboration Likelihood Model, Uses and Gratifications, parasocial interaction, diffusion of innovations, third party effect, spiral of silence. To a large extent, the methodology of research work undertaken at the master's seminar refers mainly to empirical research.

in terms of knowledge:
Learning outcome no. 1 - has in-depth knowledge of the connections between social communication sciences and media with other fields of science, especially with the humanities, social and legal sciences, allowing for the integration of perspectives appropriate for several scientific disciplines (TMA_W12)
in terms of skills:
Learning outcome no. 2 - is able to independently search, analyze, evaluate, select and integrate information using various sources and formulate critical judgments on this basis using knowledge from the discipline of social communication sciences and media (TMA_U01)
Learning outcome no. 3 - has basic research skills in the field of auxiliary disciplines (TMA_U03)
in terms of social competences:
Learning outcome no. 4 - is aware of the complexity of reality and understands the need for an interdisciplinary approach to solving problems (TMA_K05)

Assessment criteria
Requirements necessary to pass the course:
- attendance at classes,
- completion of assigned work
- in the first year - specified scientific and professional interests, determination of the topic of the work, determination, listing of sources, determination of the research method, preliminary planning and specification of the research process; approval of the topic, writing of the first chapter - deadline: 1 May.
- in the second year: II chapter (deadline: 1 December); by 15 March: III chapter.
