Fundamentals of bioethics WSR-NR-1-PB
Bioethics is an interdisciplinary science, i.e. according to its creator (Potter), it should deal with the survival of the human species. Therefore, in its material subject, it should assess those interventions in human life that are made at different levels of biotechnology, law, culture, civilization, i.e. understanding human dignity, calling, etc.
Today, however, (unfortunately) the definition of bioethics (its scope and purpose) very often boils down to a descriptive analysis of biotechnological interventions that are effective in medicine.
Therefore, it is important for the student to be introduced to the above-mentioned issues in the context of the positives and threats of such interference. What is meant here is the aspects of normative assessment based on Catholic anthropology and metaphysics, which protects the conceived life as one of the highest objective and human values.
