The course addresses issues related to financial markets. Students acquire knowledge concerning the structure, instruments, and mechanisms of financial markets within the broader context of the financial system and the national economy.
Thematic modules:
Functioning of money – essence, functions, monetary policy – 8 hours
Financial system – essence, functions, structure – 8 hours
Financial markets – essence, structure, participants, instruments, mechanisms, regulations – 8 hours
Financial stability and security – financial safety net – 2 hours
Crisis and polycrisis – essence, opportunities, and threats – 4 hours
Teaching methods:
The lecture is conducted as a problem-based and discussion-oriented course, placing students in the context of real economic dilemmas in order to actively search for theoretical solutions. The teaching process is enriched with case study analysis.

Learning outcomes
The graduate is familiar with selected recent scientific achievements related to economic theory and selected issues in applied economics.
The student acquires knowledge in the field of financial markets and understands their role in the functioning of the economy.
Assessment criteria
Learning outcomes are verified through a written exam assessing both theoretical knowledge and the ability to analyze financial phenomena. Additionally, student activity and engagement during classes are evaluated. If necessary, short diagnostic tests or case study analyses may be used to monitor ongoing progress.
The condition for passing the course and obtaining the final grade is a positive grade from both the classes and the exam.

Duration: 50 minutes

Each question is graded on a scale from 0 to 1 point, with increments of 0.25. The final grade is based on the total number of points obtained.
Active participation in lectures (attendance and engagement) may result in an increase of the final grade by 0.5.
