The course covers main theories of social capital: P.Bourdeiu, J.Coleman, R.Putnam and international studies of social capital, trust and community capacity. The students will analyze theoretical concepts of social capital, its critique and discuss practical applicability of the concept.
Empirical international studies of social capital, trust and community capacity will be presented.
The students will be invited to participate in sociodrama: a game where each of the participant will be assigned with a role of a stakeholder in some economic and ecological problem of a small community. The game is aimed on simulating the process of social capital accumulation in order to understand how could it help in resolution of conflict of interests and in obtaining a goal of a given stakeholder.
