(in Polish) International Financial Markets WSE-FIR-IFM
The course covers issues relating to the functioning of international financial markets within the context of the modern global economy. Students gain an understanding of the structure of the global financial system, the instruments used in financial markets, and the mechanisms regulating their operation within the context of national and international economies.

Money and monetary policy – the significance of money, its functions and monetary policy instruments – 8 hours
The international financial system – characteristics, functions and components of the financial system – 8 hours
International financial markets – market participants, types of financial instruments, operating mechanisms and market regulations – 8 hours
Financial sector stability and financial safety mechanisms – 2 hours
Financial crises and the phenomenon of multiple crises – causes, consequences and challenges for the global economy – 4 hours

Learning outcomes
The student has a general understanding of economics and related disciplines, their place within the social sciences, and their links to other academic disciplines. They also understand the fundamental importance of the humanities, their distinctive characteristics, and their methodological approaches.
The student has a basic understanding of microeconomics and macroeconomics.
The student is able to identify and analyse factors influencing economic decision-making at both the microeconomic and macroeconomic levels.
The student acquires knowledge regarding the functioning of international financial markets, their structure, participants and financial instruments.
In the second part of the semester, the student has the opportunity to consult on a research paper or final project they are preparing.

Requirements for the paper:

topic within the field of global financial markets, subject to prior approval

Attendance is compulsory; 2 absences are permitted.
