(in Polish) Metody pomiaru zjawisk społecznych i psychometria-wykład WSE-BD-MPZSP-w
The aim of the course is to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in the field of measurement in social sciences, with an emphasis on psychometric aspects. The main objective is to prepare students to understand basic concepts related to measurement, types of measurement scales, and techniques of test standardization and normalization. By familiarizing themselves with criteria for evaluating psychometric tests, methods for estimating their reliability and validity, students acquire skills necessary for critical assessment and interpretation of test results in the context of social sciences. Additionally, the course aims to equip students with practical skills related to the analysis of measurement data and their application in various areas of social sciences, regardless of their specialization or profession.
1. Measurement in Social Sciences: Discussion of the concept of variables, types of measurement scales, and the importance of standardization in psychological measurement. Examination of inter- and intra-variability and stability.
2. Introduction to Measurement: Definition of measurement, the role of variables in scientific research, and the influence of factors distorting measurement.
3. Criteria for Good Psychological Tests: Discussion of reliability, validity, standardization, normalization, and objectivity as key criteria for test evaluation.
4. Reliability of Psychological Tests: Definition, various types of reliability, methods for estimating it, and discussion of typical problems and pitfalls.
5. Validity of Psychological Tests: Introduction to validity as a key aspect of psychological measurement, defining types of validity, and its practical significance.
6. Estimating Validity of Tests: Practical techniques and methods for estimating validity, analysis of specific examples.
7. Normalization of Tests: What is normalization, the process of normalization, and its significance for interpreting test results.
8. Standardization of Tests: Explanation of the differences between standardization and normalization, standardization procedures, and discussion of the benefits and limitations of this process.
