The course content:
1. European Council - origins, legal foundations of functioning, character of the institution, composition, decision-making, role, modifications of the Lisbon Treaty.
2. Council of the European Union - origins, institutional character, tasks, composition, internal organization and auxiliary bodies, meetings of the Council - course and preparations, decision-making procedures, modifications of the Lisbon Treaty.
3. The European Council and the Council - new intergovernmentalism and institutional change
4. European Parliament - history of the institution, composition, procedure of appointment, structure and internal organization, decision-making procedures, competence, modifications of the Lisbon Treaty.
5. European Commission - origins, role within the EU institutional system, tasks and competence, composition and internal organization, procedure of appointment, procedure of functioning, rule of the collegial responsibility, rule of impartiality and neutrality, role of the president, modifications of the Lisbon Treaty.
6. European Ombudsman - origins, character of the institution, procedure of appointment, tasks. 6. Migration processes in Europe
7. Judicial bodies - origins, legal foundations of functioning, composition and appointment procedure, members status, range of jurisdictions, proceedings, modifications of the Lisbon Treaty.
8. Financial bodies - origins and grounds for establishing the institutions, role, composition and members status, internal structure and procedure of functioning
9. Advisory bodies - origins and grounds for establishing the institutions, role, composition and members status, internal structure and procedure of functioning, modifications of the Lisbon Treaty.10. Regional movements in Europe
11. Agencies - origins, role, composition and members status, internal structure and procedure of functioning
12. The Common Foreign and Security Policy origins and grounds for establishing the institutions, role of the Community institutions, sui generis bodies, modifications of the Lisbon Treaty.
13. The Area of Freedom, Security and Justice – origins and grounds for establishing the institutions, role of the Community institutions, sui generis bodies, modifications of the Lisbon Treaty.
14. EU officials - legal status, eligibility requirements, the recruitment process.
