International Cooperation in Civil, Commercial and Criminal Matters WP-SPM-2-MON-MWS
Lecture 1: presentation of the principles of organizing the seminar and passing the subject; presentation of the seminar issues;
Lecture 2: conditions and origins of cooperation between states in civil, commercial and criminal matters; the impact of EU membership on cooperation between states (including a discussion of the principle of mutual recognition of judgments); sources of law regulating international cooperation;
Lecture 3: Cooperation bodies: international (UNCITRAL, UNIDROIT, UNCTAD, HCCH, and others), EU (EJN, Eurojust, Europol, OLAF, European Public Prosecutor's Office);
Lecture 4: general rules of cooperation in civil matters; forms of cooperation in extra-EU relations;
Lecture 5: cooperation in cross-border proceedings concerning child abduction and maintainence;
Lecture 6: cooperation in civil matters in relations between Member States in the field of jurisdiction and recognition and enforcement of judgments; Lecture 7: cooperation in civil matters in the taking of evidence between EU Member States;
Lecture 8: cooperation in civil matters between EU Member States;
Lecture 9: cooperation in commercial matters;
Lecture 10: principles and forms of cooperation in criminal matters;
Lecture 11: European Investigation Order;
Lecture 12: international legal assistance in criminal matters;
Lecture 13: European Arrest Warrant and forms of cooperation between EU Member States and the United Kingdom, Norway and Iceland;
Lecture 14: extradition;
Lecture 15: transfer of convicted persons;

Assessment criteria
Assessment methods: students prepare presentations on topics developed by the seminar leader; the basis for passing the course is the preparation of the presentation and attendance at classes. For those who do not attend classes, an oral exam will be held (in the 1st and 2nd term)
