Protection of Intellectual Property WP-SM-OWIw(p)
1. The concept and scope of intellectual property law, history and sources of intellectual property protection law.
2. Copyright and related rights. The concept of a composition. Right to quote. Plagiarism. Subject of copyright law - the creator. Personal copyrights and property rights. Allowed private and public ususage.
3. Industrial property law. Objects of industrial property rights (invention, trademark, industrial design, utility model, geographical indication, topography of integrated circuits). Tasks and competences of the patent attorney and the Patent Office. Abroad protection of the invention (PCT, EPO, WIPO).
4. Consequences of infringing an intellectual property right. Civil, criminal and disciplinary liability for infringements of intellectual property rights.

W01 - has knowledge of the sources of national law on the protection of intellectual property, and has a basic knowledge of international legal instruments on the protection of intellectual property rights;
W02 - knows four key pieces of legislation concerning the protection of intellectual property - the Act of 4 February 1994 on Copyright and Related Rights, the Act of 30 June 2000 on Industrial Property, the Act of 27 July 2001 on the protection of databases, the Act of 16 April 1993 on counteracting unfair competition;
U01 - has a basic ability to use legal instruments, such as quoting regulations, search the online database, etc.., An understanding of basic legal terms such as the source of rights, licenses, patents, etc..
U02 - is able to navigate and apply in practice the four basic acts mentioned above, particularly in the field of copyright law and the Industrial Property Law;
U03 - is able to solve more complex problem situations related to the application of the above provisions;
K01 - is aware of the importance of issues related to the protection of intellectual property for the current functioning of the business world.
Assessment criteria
Completing the single-choice test and class attendance, however one absence is allowed throughout the entire series of classes.
