Introduction in subject matter of international law.
Assumptions and aims (detailed):
Acquaintance with principles and concepts of international law, acquintance with relations amongst public international law and domestic and basic regulations of international law, in this, binding Poland and ability to relate them to practice.

1. Introducing issues.
2. Public international law and other branches of law.
3. Principles and regulations of international law.
4. Legal personality in international law.
5. State and its attributes: Origin and collapse of States, State's territory, sovereingty, immunity, succession, diplomatic missions.
6. International organizations.
7. Non-state's territory. Law of the sea.
8. Individual's status in international law: citizenship, statelesses, forreigners, asylum seekers.
9. Human rights: regional (European) and universal solutions.
10. Prohibition of use of force in international law. Retorsions, reprisals, international sanctions. Peaceful settlement of disputes.
11. Humanitarian law: occupied territories status, veterans, refugees, prisoners-of-war, victims.

Learning outcomes:
EK1: The student has knowledge of the institutions of public international law, including the sources of law and the development of this law in time and space (the point of reference is the directional learning outcome with the symbol PR_W02 - the student knows and understands the sources and nature of the norms of public/private/international law, in the historical and contemporary aspect in relation to the subjects included in the study programme)
EK2: The student has the ability to use theoretical knowledge in the field of international and EU law to describe, analyse and resolve factual situations (the point of reference is the directional learning outcome with the symbol PR_U02 - the student is able to use theoretical knowledge in the field of public/private/international law to describe, analyse and resolve specific legal cases.
EK3: The student is able to design and create various written works, and to analyse and interpret specific legal issues from a dogmatic, comparative or historical perspective (the point of reference is the directional learning outcome with the symbol PR_U07 - the student is able to design and create various written works in Polish and a foreign language, used in various fields of public/private/international law, including procedural pleadings, as well as analyses and interpretations of specific legal issues from a dogmatic, comparative, historical perspective).
EK4: The student is able to create a draft international agreement in accordance with the requirements arising from international law (the point of reference is the directional learning outcome with the symbol PR_U08 - the student is able to prepare a basic draft normative act and a draft act of applying law, concerning public/private/international law, within the scope of the subjects included in the study programme, using modern information technologies where necessary).
EK5: The student is able to present research theses concerning issues of public international law and present arguments in support of these theses in oral form (the point of reference is the directional learning outcome with the symbol PR_U09 - the student is able to design and create oral presentations in Polish and in a foreign language used in various fields of public/private/international law within the scope of the subjects included in the study programme, in a dogmatic, comparative or historical aspect)
EK6: The student is able to supplement and improve their knowledge of public international law, including tracking changes in normative acts, judicial case law and doctrine (the point of reference is the directional learning outcome with the symbol PR_K01 - the student is ready to supplement and improve their knowledge of institutions and norms in the field of public/private/international law, including tracking changes in normative acts, judicial case law and doctrine, and is prepared to undertake third-cycle studies)
EK7: The student is able to identify and resolve dilemmas related to the use of international law in legal professions (the point of reference is the directional learning outcome with the symbol PR_K02 - the student is ready to correctly identify and resolve dilemmas related to the practice of legal professions)
EK8: The student is able to work in a group and prepare projects of a scientific nature concerning international law (the point of reference is the directional learning outcome with the symbol PR_K03 - the student is ready to work in a group, cooperate and assume various roles in it, and participate in the preparation of social projects, taking into account legal, economic and political aspects)

Assessment criteria
Assessment takes place through synchronous contact on the MS Teams platform and through asynchronous contact in the form of chat or email, during which the assumptions of the master's thesis, work plans and individual chapters are consulted.
Direct meetings also take place, during which students give presentations on assigned topics, followed by a discussion.
The assessment methods will be continuous assessment, observation of behaviour, assessment of written work, and assessment of oral statements.
