General assumptions and objectives
The primary aim of the course is to familiarise students with the fundamental principles, concepts, and institutions of environmental law.

The environment as an object of legal protection
Sources of environmental law
Functions and principles of environmental law
Access to environmental information
Public participation in environmental protection
Protection of environmental resources. Air protection
Protection against noise
Emission permits. Integrated permit
Permits for the emission of gases or dust into the air
Notification of installations
Financial and legal instruments of environmental protection
Liability in environmental protection (civil, criminal, and administrative liability)

Student learning outcomes
PR_W01, PR_W02:
The student knows and understands the nature and significance of environmental law and its sources in relation to other areas of legal regulation, as well as the methods of defining concepts and institutions specific to this field.
PR_W04, PR_W06:
The student knows and understands the structure of institutions and legal relationships in environmental law and their position in relation to corresponding structures in other branches of law.
PR_W05:
The student knows and understands the system, functioning, and competences of environmental protection authorities in Poland and is able to identify the relationships between them.
PR_W06, PR_W07, PR_W08, PR_W09:
The student knows and understands the legal and factual determinants of the creation and application of environmental law as an instrument for achieving specific values.
PR_U06:
The student is able to select appropriate procedures for resolving cases in the field of environmental protection.
Workload
Lecture: 30 hours
Exam preparation: 20 hours
Total: 50 hours / 25 (1 ECTS credit = 25 hours of student workload) = 2 ECTS credits

Grade 3 / 3.5 (satisfactory): demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of the nature and significance of environmental law and its sources in relation to other areas of legal regulation, as well as the methods of defining relevant concepts and institutions
Grade 4 / 4.5 (good): demonstrates good knowledge and understanding of the nature and significance of environmental law and its sources in relation to other areas of legal regulation, as well as the methods of defining relevant concepts and institutions
