Short description
It is a broad-based introduction to the role of St. John Bosco’s pedagogical assumptions in different dimensions: historical, pedagogical, spiritual and social. It includes an examination of various perspectives and practical implications of John Bosco’s ideas in the contemporary education. It is a discussion of several issues facing educators today and parents whose primary duty is to educate honest citizens and good Christians.

Knowledge:
Student after completing the lecture preventive system can locate St. John Bosco in the sciences and of its relationships with other disciplines. Presents a structured knowledge about different educational environments, their specifics and the processes that occur in them.
Skills:
After graduation, students can describe the educational experience of Don Bosco in its various dimensions: historical, spiritual, educational, social, and indicate the use of these experiences in today's reality of life for children and youth. Student is able to synthesize such a project formulated the basis of education related to evangelism, leading to the formation - on the ideals of Don Bosco - "honest citizens and good Christians."
Social competences:
Student justifies the need for continuous training. Convinced of the importance of the preventive system for the quality of education in residential institutions.

Assessment criteria
Lecture, individual reading of texts, presentation of selected topics, discussion.
The final grade consists of:
1. Presence in class
2. Preparation for individual classes (preparation of texts, preparation of oral statements, ability to argue the presented theses)
3. Activity during classes
4. Written colloquium.
3.0 - The student is able to present the main principles of the preventive system and knows how to develop a project of education in line with the educational concept of Don Bosco: raise honest citizens and good Christians.
3.5 - Student is able to correctly formulate the importance of the preventive system for the quality of education in residential institutions.
4.0 - The student can describe the pedagogical experience of Don Bosco in its various dimensions: historical, spiritual, educational, social.
4.5 - The student knows how to present an ordered knowledge of educational environments and is able to apply the basic principles of the preventive system in the educational activity.
5.0 - Student is able to indicate the place of the Preventive System of St. John Bosco in the system of pedagogical science and its application in today's schools and care centers.
