(in Polish) Projektowanie i organizacja wystaw WNHS-HS-PiOW
This class discusses the key stages of organising temporary exhibitions and the problems an exhibition curator/organiser may face. The presenter discusses the logistics of concurrently - organising exhibitions, talks about content issues, how to conduct searches and determine the theme of the exhibition, selected legal issues and those related to budget construction.
The stages of acquiring artworks, transporting them, working with the set designer, etc., are discussed, while at the same time the problems of editing the catalogue and other publications, creating an information system, selected means of promoting the exhibition, etc., are also discussed.
Based on the sample problems of organising exhibitions, the student is to discuss two exhibitions of his/her choice and try to assess (together with the lecturer and with other students) to what extent the authors of these exhibitions have fulfilled their tasks.

KNOWLEDGE:
The student has a structured knowledge of the development of Polish and foreign art, including advanced terminology and basic research methods of art history.
The student has basic knowledge of the relationship between art history and other humanities, including philosophy and literature. The student knows the basics of marketing and advertising related to museology and exhibition.
SKILLS:
Students are able to search, analyse, evaluate, select and use information on works of art using a variety of sources and methods, including the ability to use Internet resources and computer databases of cultural institutions.
The student is able to use specialist language and applies the appropriate terminology used to describe and analyse works of art. He/she has basic research skills, including formulation and analysis of problems, selection of research methods and tools, elaboration and presentation of results. Following the guidance of the academic supervisor, he/she is able to acquire knowledge and develop skills independently.
The student is able to use basic theoretical approaches, research paradigms and concepts in art history. He/she is able to recognise different types and kinds of works of art and products of visual culture, as well as to conduct their critical analysis and interpretation using typical methods in order to determine their meanings, social impact and place in the historical-cultural process. Has the ability to argue substantively, citing the views of researchers. Is able to formulate conclusions. Has the ability to construct a logical written and oral statement in Polish, combined with correct typescript preparation with research apparatus and presentation of photographs of works of art. Reads professional literature in a foreign language.
SOCIAL COMPETENCES:
Acquires knowledge independently and participates in cultural life.
Assessment criteria
Classes are held full-time at the WNHS UKSW.
Class attendance: 30 hrs.
Preparation of a credit presentation (including archival search): 20 hrs.
SUM: 50 hrs = 2 ECTS

Classes are held full-time at the WNHS UKSW. Class attendance: 30 hrs. SUM: 50 hrs = 2 ECTS. Assessment: Papers combined with presentation of illustrative material in multimedia form. Attendance at classes is a prerequisite for the course credit (two unexcused absences from classes are allowed). Papers combined with multimedia presentations are subject to assessment. The grade also reflects the level of the prepared papers. |
