Milan - Art, Fashion, Design WH-KON-MilArtFas
The course presents issues concerning the development of art, design, and fashion in Milan. The course starts with the history of the city and its development over the centuries. The most important works of architecture and art are set against this background. The class shows the evolution of the leading artistic trends in Milan and the reception of international phenomena in the city. The analysis of works is based on both avant-garde and contemporary art. Another section is the development of design in Italy from the early 20th century, through Futurism, Pop, Postmodernism, up to the latest trends. Participants will learn about the most important Milanese designers and companies. Fashion, which is inextricably associated with the city, is the final section of the course. The programme addresses the origins of the Florence fashion shows and the development of Milan as the Italian fashion capital. The most important fashion brands, designers, and styles are recalled. The course concludes with an overview of the most significant museums in Milan that are dedicated to the topics of the course.

FOR 5 - student knows excellent the questions of Milan's architecture, art, and design chronology and can recognize and name the leading cultural sites of the city based on visual material. Knows well all the leading fashion brands and figures.
FOR 4 - student knows well the questions of Milan's architecture, art, and design chronology and can partially recognize and name the leading cultural sites of the city based on visual material. Knows some of the leading fashion brands and figures.
FOR 3 - student knows basic questions of Milan's architecture, art, and design chronology and can vaguely recognize and name the leading cultural sites of the city based on visual material. Partially knows some of the leading fashion brands and figures.
FOR 2 - student does not know the required questions of Milan's architecture, art, and design chronology, cannot recognize and name the leading cultural sites of the city based on visual material. Does not know leading fashion brands and figures.
