Introduction to Cyber-Ethnography WH-KON-Introduction
The main aim of the classes is a reflection on the socio-cultural dimensions of the Internet. During the course, students will be familiarized with the main theories and research methods of a digital phenomena and forms of online activities. We will discuss: styles of using the Internet, its social dimensions, the most popular websites and platforms, the opportunities it offers, as well as the risks associated with it. Participation in the virtual world is an increasingly important element of the everyday life of each of us, therefore it should be treated with a reflective, critical insight in order not to miss the opportunities it opens up for both participants of socio-cultural life and its researchers, as well as avoid - or at least be aware - of threats.
